2007 Ishinryu Summer School

The annual Ishinryu summer course was held at St Osyth (Near Clacton, Essex) from Saturday June 23 through to Friday June 29.  Sensei Lee Smith joined other top Ishinryu Instructors,  including Ishinryu founder Ticky Donovan (OBE) and Dave Hazard (7th Dan Shotokan) on this intensive week of training and events.  In addition to Lee there were16 attendees from the Woodlane club this year.    A selection of photos from the  Summer School can be seen in our Photo Gallery.  

Woodlane students returned with nine competition trophies and eight new grade passes. 

Grading - congratulations to the following who graded at Summer School: 

Errol Samuel  - 1st Kyu Brown Belt

Vasfi Eroglu  - 2nd Kyu Brown Belt 

Paul Fanner  - 2nd Kyu Brown Belt

Ian Chapman - 7th Kyu Yellow Belt

Bobbi  - 5th Kyu Green Belt 

Brittany  - 5th Kyu Green Belt 

Competition success As usual, Woodlane students achieved notable success in the competitive events.

Georgie - 3rd in Girl's Kumite (3rd Kyu and above)

Ian Chapman  - 1st in Men's Kumite (up to 5th Kyu) and 3rd in Men's Kata (up to 5th Kyu)

Kimberley Vant  - 3rd in  Women's Kumite (1st Kyu and above) 

Paul Fanner  - 3rd in Men's Kumite (up to 3rd Kyu)

Simon Alexis  - 2nd in Men's Kumite (up to 3rd Kyu)

Tayla Holland - 2nd in Women's Kumite  (up to 3rd Kyu)

Vasfi Eroglu  - 1st in Men's Kumite and 2nd in Cadet's Kumite
