Students of the year 2007

Congratulations to James Knight  and Georgie Cameron on being voted Woodlane students of the year 2007.

Seen here being presented with their awards by guests Jonathan Mottram and Tony Smith.

For the second year running Georgie Cameron has been selected as Junior student of the year.  This is a first for any student at Woodlane, but very well deserved in Georgie's case.  All the qualities she demonstrated last year were maintained and Georgie ended the year on a high by gaining her black belt at the general grading.

Competition success continued in 2007 including first place Kumite awards at the Ishinryus and the Essex Open in July. Georgie is a great example to our younger students, showing what can be achieved by dedication and hard work.

Congratulations to James Knight on being voted Senior student of the year 2007.  James is unique in winning both junior student of the year (2003) and now the senior award.   James has always trained hard and consistently, but all instructors have noted a particular improvement this year.  Now a first Kyu, we have high expectations for James in the coming year.

James has extended his support of Ishinryu by taking and passing his Judges (B) exam this year and going on to officiate at the Ishinryu competition in November.

Student of the year awards are decided by, and voted on, by the club instructors at the end of each year.  The criteria for selecting students is based on a number of factors including attendance, attitude, hard-work, and improvement over the 12 month period.
